THE FOUR ACES

This song epitomizes what I endeavored to do with the "JUKEBOX" site. Song released as a 45 RPM single in 1952 and my older brother David bought it and played it often. As a small boy I loved hearing it. In later years I could never find it on a computer, mainly I think from not remembering who the artists were. Recently the group Four Aces came to thought as popular in the early Fifties. Googling that group along with the song title resulted in me hearing that 45 RPM record for the very first time in over 65 years.  WHAT A TREAT!

Jiminy Cricket is one of Disney's most beloved characters.

Singing a most beautiful song.

"WINDMILLS OF

   YOUR MIND"

Sheer poetry!

This song has some of the most beautiful lyrics

ever written. Vocalized by the "Heavenly" and truly "Unforgettable" singer...Johnnie Mathis.

ENJOY!

WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel,
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain,
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half-forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream.
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that you said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Is the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And the fragment of a song,
half-remembered names and faces
but to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
You were suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair?
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind!

"APRIL FOOLS"

There was a dramatic, quick, job related move for our family from South Carolina to Boston some 37 years ago. After getting settled into our new home, I was walking the dog one night, and while standing gazing at a lovely park with beautiful stars overhead, some of the lyrics to this song came to my thought...

"Little did we know where the road would lead,

here we are a million miles away from the past,

Travelling so fast,

Now, there's no turning back."

What those lyrics said to me, gave me such a sense of peace and well-being. They made me appreciate even more, the changes we were experiencing at this time in our lives!
